Summer is coming to a close. University is back in session and students are here again, freshmen looking like baby birds. City schools started last week, too. Each day, on the way to work, I pass by the elementary school I went to when I was a child. Yesterday I saw a girl in her official crossing-guard vest, arms stretched out bravely, then tiredly, then flaggingly. I was once that girl. I am still that girl! :)
